The current market system and the globalization of our food supply make it difficult for a small, family farm to make ends meet. A Growing Season follows Ontario farmer John Gorzo Jr. from the spring planting to the fall harvest eight months later. He struggles with unpredictable weather, turbulent markets and rockey finances. Despite growing new types of products such as artichokes, dollars and cents appear to be his greatest hurdle to overcome.

“One of the world’s biggest gambles – you are literally gambling with mother nature – and you have no control over that.”
